By shaved u mean debadge right?
Take a heat gun(or blow dryer) to melt the glue behind the emblem
Use dental floss(preferably wintergreen ) and use it to cut through the now soft glue.
Use nail polish remover to clean the remaining glue off of the paint.
I think thats about it, correct me if i'm wrong.

Paint thinner will not remove car paint. I've used it many times on many different cars...no problem.
FYI: the word "Lexus" on the trunk has holes behind it, so if you remove the emblem you will have some holes on the trunk. I don't know if the same is true for the "L" in the center of the trunk.
By the way, shaving generally refers to removing door handles and door locks for a smooth ("shaved") look.

Actually, I am correct. The 2nd Gen may be different, but the 1st gen "Lexus" badge on the left side of the trunk does have holes (I saw it myself when I removed the badge).
I wouldn't use nail polish remover either...you never know what other chemicals they add, but paint thinner is satisfactory.

if "lexus" has holes behind it thack sucks. i wanted to get the aristo tail for my 93 gs and think that the L with aristo and no lexus badge looks very spiffy.

Reviving this thread
Has anyone figured out a good way to glue the emblems back on?
Mine broke and I have one from the yard I want to attach. I was able to retrieve the little rubber inserts for the "Lexus" emblem.
Thanks for the replies...

Emblem adhesive. Its sold in a 6 - 8 oz tube.
When I had my accord people thought it was entertaining to steal my H badge. I fixed that one fast.

Both the "Lexus" and the "L" have holes behind them. I removed them then installed an Aristo wing which has the "T" center badge and nothing else. That along with Aristo tail lights, grill and airbag completed my full debadging. Otherwise you will have to fill the holes and red rill new ones for the Toyota badge as the pins are on different spots.
