Replacement tire question & poll
Hello GS'ers
My Dear Old Mom has a 93 GS3 and it has come time to replace the tires. The dealership (Lexus of Kendall) and a tire shop (Tire Kingdom of Miami) said that the tires (Goodyear Eagle GA 215 60VR16) are specially designed to fit with the car and that any other brand/size would "affect the performance." This sounds like a load of BS. Can anyone verify?
I know that 225 55/16's give you pretty much the same rolling diameter at the originals. I did this when I had my Ford SHO. Has anyone done this with their Gen1? Have you had any problems?
Also, can anyone recommend a reasonably-priced all-weather tire (V-rated or higher)? Does anybody know anything about the Yokohama AvidV4? Keep in mind that this is for my mom, who won't be taking corners at 45mph.
Thanks

corning at 45mph is still too slow....i shoot for 60 to 70mph
here's my take on what the dealer and tire shop are telling you. when you go ask for tires they pretty much can only sell you what there pretty little computers tell them. So they aren't going to give you anything else for warranty and legal reasons. Now if you want to get something different for stock rims more power to you. but your probably going to have to get them elsewhere.......ever try tirerack.com? good luck

I just got 4 new Goodyear Eagle GA's from Goodyear in Pembroke Pines yesterday. They're going out of buisness, so I got them for $71 per tire. You might want to send here down there. They feel pretty good so far. Just tell Ryan that Kareem sent you.
