Default NA-T, please chime in

Hey, so first off I'd like to point out I have done a lot of searching on here and club na-t, just before I get flamed. Now, about me, I'm extremely handy, I have a built LS1 Trans Am and I'm not scared to tear down a motor. More about me, my trans am is in Texas and I need something to drive at school here in CO. I have about $5000 saved up and I can obtain a GS for about $2000 and I have $3000 left to spend on turbo. My questions are, going with the budget kit like XS, what provision need to be made for IC mounting? I have the rest of the kit figured out. Also, I have an LM1 already so what software would be most cost-effective if I'm only gonna run 7-9lbs? I read the headgasket will hold that, but if I can run more boost with the stock fuel system or just a set of injectors, I can swap a headgasket easy. So that leads me in to my next question, what can the stock pump and injectors hold up to? Sorry if this is rushed or unclear, I'm on my phone right now. If you need clarification just let me know. I'm really looking for the most power for the least amount of money. (about 3k). I have provision for maintanence, suspension, and odds and ends. I'm not worried about LSD at the moment. Anything else I should be aware of though? Thanks a ton everyone!

Kyle

What I would do is get an XS kit, obtain a stock TT headgasket and ARP head studs, get the head decked, cleaned, and throw some new valve seals in there while it's out. Then take the rest of the money and spend it on tuning. It is possible to do. The stock pump is fairly decent, but walbros are getting cheap. RX7 FC injectors are cheap and are plug and play, so just keep doing research and you will find everything. That trans is the only real weak point. 350whp is about the Max you wanna push though that

I run with what this guy said. but keep in mind the auto transmission will either be your best friend or enemy seeing as how its not a GTE trans.

Awesome feedback! Really appreciated. If I'm gonna pull the head though, I'd probably just go with a nice Cometic or something. 350rwhp will be absolutely great for only 5k upfront. Looking like I can do it 4 even. What tuning software is suggested?
