1jz swap in first gen gs
#16
I'm doing it. Pulled the 1j out of my Supra this weekend. Plan is to go through it, replace all the parts that are 100 times easier to change while the engine is out. And then drop it in the Lex.
Questions now. I have an Aristo harness, and ECU, and I have the JZA70 harness and ECU. Which one would be easiest to use on the GS. I'm thinking the Aristo harness, just have to extend it, and convert to work with 1JZ injectors, right?? And for the mounts, I can use our OEM brackets, and motor mounts correct? Lastly, for the transmission. Both of the trannys I have are auto's, the trans behind the 1JZ is a Supra one (A340, with a slip yoke going into the tailshaft.), and according to the previous owner my GS has an Aristo trans right now. Which I know is a bolt together yoke going into the tailshaft. So which one can/should I use? Electronically any differences?
