Qs about first gen GS300
In the future Im considering purchasing a 93 or 94 GS300
These cars can be found for fairly cheap so I want to know
how dependable they are ? (and obviously expensive to fix)
If I pick one up with higher milage, do they encounter lots of problems ?
Which are problem areas for this car ?
I guess theres a pretty good aftermarket for this car but aside from lowering it and putting rims on it what mods are available for the engine ? ie pullies, intakes, exhausts ?
how do they resopond to these mods ? cause I know the 4spd autos made this car pretty slow stock, until they made a 5spd auto
what are typical 1/4 mile times for a GS300 with these mods ?
thanx for the help

well ever since i have bought my car i have not changed ANYTHING besides the spark plugs which were my choice and were optional. also i changed all 4 tires. those are the ONLY expense i have put into my car since i got it last year. i have a 1993 gs300 with over 100k miles

Never had a problem with mine. changing your oil every 3500 for our higher milage cars cuts down on future problems and keeps the car running smooth. just make sure to change the filter everytime you change oil. why put new oil in a dirty filter. cost only 10 bucks for a TRD one made in japan.

some problems for our cars are. ummm none. only problem is i guess our leather gets really hard and start to crack after about 8 years. also the wood trim around the shifter tend to crack for some reason which can be replaced for 60 dollars. its all cosmetic problems. oh 1 thing that sucks on this car is the light output. when you get it upgrade your bulbs to white bulbs or HID right away because they are pretty dim. try to get a retro but at least get a HID kit. our projectors are good for HID's

our cars are pretty limited. you can do anything with money though. we have a very small variety of shocks and springs. i think the only company that makes springs for our cars that is good is eibach. other other than that there is tein i think which is in the 1000 dollar range. as for shocks there is KYB shocks which other people can tell you more about.

our engine is VERY good. its a natrallly inspired engine. its a I6 which is very strong. you can turbo our engine like mcnelson has done and get a 12 sec car with other small mods
what are typical 1/4 mile times for a GS300 with these mods ?
something like 1 hour and like 8 minutes
thanx for the help

my 93 has 97000 miles and all i do is change the oil every 5,000 miles, I rarely drive the car anymore...
I have had a couple of cars (MR2 ,300z, NSX, acura RL)
still have the RL and the Lexus is by far the most reliable and best car that I have ever owned...
I hate how people tell me to get the GS400 because it's newer and the body style is nicer..but dayam my GS3 has been perfect..
the leather has been cool..the AC blows hella cold air unlike the NSX and 3z...never had any "check engines" lights light up like the RL for no reason..
Ohh the only thing I hate is that I have to get new tires every 8,000 miles..19's suck!!
but yeah get one
