any ideas as to costs? my tranny started to jerk when upshifting to 2nd (more) and 3rd (less) gears.

also, sometimes there's rather long hesitation when i want to speed up quickly in both ECT Norm/PWR, and then the car just shoots out. is it the tranny or something else?

have you had your tranny service lately? maybe just needs a lube job.....

 

How often should one flush the transmission fuid? Also, has someone found a compatible synthetic fluid to replace the Toyota type IV that actually works?

Last time I've had the tranny flushed was almost a year-and-a-half ago (I think less than 20K miles), and upshifting became noticably smoother, but still not perfect. My car is pushing 170K miles and I have no idea how it was taken care of by the previous owner/s.

 

wow, not sure of your conditions but usually it's at least once a year for me. and of course, the previous maintance comes into play and how the previous owner took care of the car. just have your mechanic take a look at it to make sure everything is cool down there.
