Default New Guy on the Block

Whats up fellas? Im new to the lexus scene as an owner of a 1993 Lexus GS 300 I purchased for $500 bucks. Ive always wanted this body style since I was 13. The car had been sitting behind my friends dealership for 2 years and i finally made a jump on it. Its got some body damage and a hole in the block, but gotta start somewhere right? Im very excited to resurrect this diamond in the rough.

Default Progress on the project....

So far Ive managed to find a donor car for all the repairs including the motor. Gonna take a whack at it this weekend.

Other than that I managed to swap out the damaged interior parts. Sorry for the GIGANTIC pictures. Im welcome to any advice or tips/tricks on swapping the motor out. My biggest fear is reaching the bolts to seperate the motor from the transmission.

Thnkx. Unfortunately, I cant seem to get the motor mounts to line up to the frame. Ive been trying for 8 hours, and Im alittle frustrated. Has anybody ran into this before or has any ideas? Im starting to go crazy since Im SO CLOSE to having this car running?

Ok. So for a little update...I managed to get everything lined up and torqued down. So far Ive spent my time driving , checking, and tuning. Driving, checking, and tuning. Ive had to torque down the driveshaft due to severe vibrations during deacceleration, but thats been corrected. Since then, Ive been playing with the idle since it wanted to dance between 1500 and 2000 RPMS. So I said ok, lets dance. I ripped through some back roads to blow the old gas and fuel injector cleaner through the engine. The more times I did it, the better it got, but it just wasnt good enough. Time to result to more desperate measures. I was sitting there after a grueling test drive and due to my short attention span, I started tapping the gas pedal. I noticed then that it would cut down for half a second before revving up smoothly. Just didnt feel right. After that, I started playing with the throttle cable and adjusting the bolts to the point that I could touch the pedal and got an instant response. Ok cool. She idles a little bit lower, but it still wasnt good enough. So when all else fails I turn to the perks of the internet. I stumbled across lexls.com and there I found a tutorial on how to adjust the TPS sensor and lower or raise the idle. The site was really for LS models, but the sensor principles are the same. now I idle at 600 to 1000 rpms depending on the engine temp. Now, Im left with two problems. The first one is the power steering pump that leaks like 91 corrolla with 300,000 miles on it and no maintenance. Its not really the pump tho its the hose connected to it. It is so brittle that if i wiggle it fluid comes through the cracks. No problem tho, easy fix. Problem number two, Ive been battling since the car started running. Every time I tap on the gas to hard or too quick, the check engine comes on. If I cut the engine off, the light stays off until I hit the gas again the next time the car is running. Any Ideas? Sorry for that loooong post. Gotta get all of this out of my head so I can focus better.
