94 Lexus Overhowling - Need tips and ideas
Hi!
After breaking a sparkplug on my 340k head and failing at removing it, I decided to change the engine. Was thinking to go with a GTE but due to money and others i decided to put that idea aside.
Instead this past weekend i had the chance to get the long block from a 94 Lexus SC300.. This block had 20k miles on it since it was last rebuild. I got it with the tranny for $150.00!!
It took about 3 hours to remove long block and transmission with my buddies. It was fast since we are used to working on 7Ms and 2JZ are pretty much the same... What made it a lot easier was the fact that we cut the front bumpter and anything that would get on the way. So when we hoisted the car, we pulled it forward instead of over the bay.
NOTE: I know i can't use the same transmission as the SC300.. but my GS transmission still ok. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SC300 4 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION HMU!
I know for a fact that there will be few things i will need to reuse [ oil filter, water piping, and so on...]
I can't seem to find any manuals or anything about the chassis... i would like to remove the front bumper and any guards. This would make the engine removal a lot easier.
Also few questions for those who have done this before:
Is it better to bolt the transmission outside the car?
Would it be easier to Install the Intake, Accessories, and exhaust outside the car? Would it get on the way when hoisting the whole thing on the bay?
Should i remove the harness from the inside or just unplug everything from the engine?
Any major changes i should be aware of?
Any sensors that would have to be changed? [on my old sc300 temp sensors, and knock sensors had different connectors than other sc300s...]
if you have any tips or pics to share please do! I will be posting some pics also! x)

The O2 sensors are different, so swap exhaust manifolds. The oil pan is different too.
Ps...sorry bro, but i know guys that can remove a 2j and install a 1J and have the car running in 3hrs. Seen one of those guys pull a 7m out of a mk3 supra in 45mins.
