I am in NY and it's been rather cold for the past 3+ weeks. Besides finishing off my battery (I just got a replacement, Optima Red Top) the cold also seems to be affecting my hood support shocks. When it's cold outside and the car is cold, they can't hold up the hood at all. If I were to drive around to warm up the engine bay, they'll work fine. I have a 93 GS with what appears to be original shocks. I already had my trunk shocks replaced. That was before I discovered CL so I had to go to the dealer ($$$

Anyone else with this problem?

holy *****!!! my Nissan Maxima did the same thing...I made the hot/cold weather association too. Cause I remember I was gonna replace em and then summer came and they never gave again...it must have to do with the oil insides viscosity or something?

no, i haven't. but i think i read in the LS forum you can bring your shocks to a pep boys and buy one about same length. use a dremel and cut off the tip of the shock and glue/weld it together for a cheap replacement. should be under 20.
