Default My car is idling low@stop lights!

My car lately at stop lights it has been idling at just over 500 rpms, any ideas on what it could be? is there an easy adjustment?

Thanks

around this area in the picture there is your throtlle adjust ment. it's pretty much a cable from the pedel to this lever which adjust the RPM of the engine. there is this small screw you can loosen or tighten to lift and lower the lever. try adjusting it 1/2 turn or so at a time until your rpm is around 700 or so

btw. this is NOT ap icture of my car.

Is it a smooth idle? or is there fluctuation?

Try this at the next stop light and/or at home in the driveway put the car in park... does it idle correctly now?

If it only idles incorrectly when at the stop light in drive while you are pressing your brakes or there is some fluctuation.. the culprit is your Power Brake Booster which is the big round thing that your brake master cylinder bolts to.

Default Idle

It is very strange actually, the problem is not always there most of the time it has been idling fine at stop lights then every once in while the RPMS will fluctuate, it is weird cause its not consistant, most of the time it idles fine in park.

Its the Power Brake Booster... my car had the same symptoms once and that was the culprit. The Booster sends a code to the computer you can have the dealer or a good mechanic shop put it on the computer to check the warning codes.

As you see i het the net late at night. ... or should i say early in the morning.

I forgot the cost assoc. with the repair.. i purchased the brake booster aftermarket ( i dont suggest doing this is retrospect cuz its starting to mess up again and not much time has elasped) for less than $200 and i had it installed for around $200 if i am not mistaken.
