Ok here we go...
After searching for 2 hours I decided to ask the forum as a whole this perplexing question. Bear with me here...
As most know our keys enable our keyless entry and also start the vehicle, duh. On my 98 4runner the key fob could open 2 vehicles due to the fact it transmits one signal, as in, the same signal unlocks that also locks. Our cars are the same. One button does both. I noticed on my wifes 2000 Camry it is a bi signal, 2 different signals to lock and unlock.
My keyless entry is useless on both keys because they are falling apart and I have them taped up so therefore no keyless entry. Has anyone "rigged up" a back up keyless entry, say using a fob instead of our key?
