power seat malfunction
moved seat all the way forward today on my 96 gs300 to vacuum and then seat would not come back. It tryed to but seemed only to move on one side which skewed the seat in the track and then motor would stop. Eventually, I had to sit in seat and while pressing back switch move the seat back with my legs pushed against firewall. Any thoughts, thinking it might be gunked up lubrication but not sure

Its a common issue. Its the seat "transmission" its dead. the gear they use is plastic and has prolly stripped away. If you search there are a few threads on it. I posted one myself with pics of the gear and how to remove it. I just took the gear out and left the 1side disconnected. Put the seat back together and its been working fine for me. I just avoid moving the seat back and forth while i'm in it as to not put any unecessary strain on the motor side. Its been 3years and no problems that way.

They didn't work for me. I very easily pushed them on and after installing the seat back in they stripped out. I had bought two sets so I did it again and this time the gear was cracked after installing and moving the seat. I noticed that the metal piece is a basically gear and the part from gamiviti didn't have and groves in it to hold into place. I am saving for some new seat tracks motors.
