at the base of the **** there should be a plastic ring. just take both hands and push down the ring. it will expose 2 phillip head screws.
may i ask why you are doing this?? new ****?

below the leather at the base of the shift **** there is a plastic ring. just take both hands and push down the ring. it takes a little bit of pressure.

shifter
What looks like the shifter shaft is really a plastic cover that slides down the shaft away from the handle.
