Default Suggestions?? New to the 1GS

So I'm still new to the 1GS family and I was wondering if anybody knew of any good shops in NC. Preferably in or near Charlotte.

I have a 1993 Gs300. White with tan leather, sunroof, heated seats, and aftermarket CD player. I picked it up for $600 the guy I picked it up from said it had a blown head gasket but he had the intake off and that what's he was talking about. I haven't taken the head off. He said it ran but it had a bad water pump and when finally replaced it was dumping water. It has 240k original miles.

I have all the gaskets for top and bottom, plus timing belt, water pump etc. I figured I might as well get new pistons and all to do a full rebuild. (Do you think the head warped??) I've read about ppl doing a head gasket replace and not get the head machined.

I plan to turbo in the future. So should I just do the basics on my current engine and wait to do a swap or rebuild and buy a turbo??

I don't know of any shop in NC, most of the guys here do their own work since these engines are pretty easy to work on. Anytime I replace a head gasket due to an overheating issue I always have the head checked for warpage.

I did my head gasket without having the head checked. HOWEVER, I had driven the car for 3 years prior and I knew how hot the engine had gotten. Not checking for warpage on a car you don't know about is just asking for trouble.

I plan on pulling another 2jz engine and rebuilding them both proper.

I would check for warpage because its too much work to change the headgasket to take that gamble. You can pick up a used jdm engine for $600 or so. Maybe thats worth looking into as well because headgasket on thos car is alot of work.
