My shift bezel is cracked at the rear of it all the way across the 1" width of it, I tried to glue it down with a bunch of stuff but nothing has worked, any suggestions? Anyone have one they don't need and want to give me and even then how would you have to go about attaching the new one? Thanks!

The little plastic border that goes around the shifter in a Gen1. It is the woodgrain piece. Just in front of the Apexi controllers is where it is cracked and pealing up.

Man.. i really like that shifter where did you get that? How much?
The shift bezel is easy to take off just take your shifter off.. close your ashtray.. take a flathead screwdriver and carefully pry up in the vacinity of the armrest. no bolt or anything. i think there is one plug attaching the gear indicator illumination. I replaced mine once due to a crack..and chip off the woodgrain. Due to an error in my dealers computer system i got the $400 part for $50 yelp... my friend works in the parts dept. and told me on a later visit that that price was a mistake in the computer. when you buy a new one the woodgrain and black section with the gear indicator comes together as a one piece unit.
If you can't find one or at least a deal on one i suggest purchasing a full woodgrain kit for the car. My kit was over 22 pieces and 1 of which included a piece that covered the entire shift bezel (not the black part just where wood goes) it was not cheap (cant remember exact price) but i do remember it was less than that one part.
Check a lexus salvage yard also.. But don't use "Billy's Toyota and Lexus Parts" ,if you call them they are going to rush you, act as though they don't want to answer questions, and basically tell you what they think you want to hear. God forbid you have a problem, then Billy himself will avoid you like the plague. return no calls regardless of how many times you call. They are about 30mins from me and even if i go in person they try to rush you like i'm not busy!

The shifter is made by Levoc, I want to say it was like $100 or so I don't really remember. $400 for a new woodgrain piece from the dealer, what a rip off. I will just have to see if I can find one at a junk yard, or wai tto see if any other members have got one for me.

you can always check ebay. i've seen a few floating around there for about $50 or less. imo...it seems that the woodgrain around the shifter cracks sooner or later due to age because i've seen quite a few ppl looking for it (including me when i first bought my car). i dunno if you want to buy a second hand one from ebay or a junkyard as it too is aged. it might look nice for a few months then crack too

Common problem with 1st gen GS, was cracked on mine too, I just got a new set on ebay, here is the same exact auction
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33705
It had the new piece which fit vety well, theres about 1mm of space on one of the rounded corners, but not very noticeable, plus theres crapload of other pieces to play with

I just bought a used one for like $55 shipped, call Sports & Imports @ 800-831-8292 ask for chris and tell him steve from mass. sent you. Hopefully he has one. you just need to take you shifter handle off then the surround just pops up then unplug the shfiter selector plug and tranny power plug. Good to go. Good luck!! By the way you can also go to www.car-part.com and do a search you should find one.

I finally found the time to take the rest of the cracked woodgrain on my car...It looks like crap without it, especially with left over brown glue
I may just get the same shift know because the leather is peeling off the stock one.
Peace,
Lyle
