Black Headlamp Housing?
So I am off today and bored so I am going to do the "Clear Corners Mod" which seems pretty straight forward but I was also thinking about painting the inside of the housing black once I remove the lense. Has anyone else tried this? Were there any negative effects on the amount of light? Thanks

How are you doing yours? Are you going to remove the orange reflector too? I finished mine for the most part I need to get some more sealant. I am going to do write up of my process after I put them back in the car.

Bake them open, remove the shroud and paint them black. I also plan on opening up the projector lens and painting the inside red so when the light is off it's "demon eyes". If you need more sealant give The Retrofit Source a call. They have Butyl Glue and are located in Atlanta if you need it today. Tell Andrew or Matt that Nick sent you.

Ok here is version 1 of this project completed. I think the results are pretty good but I will definitely be making changes for version 2. Next time around I will probably have the housing hydro dipped or maybe have them sprayed in a booth. Second would be to change the projector lense for more light output. Theretrofitsource.com sells just the lenses for about $45 and while you are inside the headlight it only takes 2 screws to remove the lense. The third and most important part would be CLEAR LENSES WITH NO LINES!! Clear lenses would make this mod so much better!! After I was done reinstalling the headlights I sanded and clear coated them. Let me know what you guys think!!
I think the before and after night pics are cool because with it blacked out you can see the definition between each of the lights but without the black the reflectors just make it look like one big light....if that makes sense. Please excuse the mess in the shop (It was pretty busy today!!) and my dirty black car!!

Awesome !!
Great job on what you did to your headlights. You'd mentioned about getting them de-lined, here are couple of my retrofitted JDM headlight pics just to get an idea.

Pic 2
If you look closely, you may notice the lenses show a bit of blue hue color in them. The inside of projector was painted blue to give that look, similar process from a member mentioned above. A friend of mine had retrofitted these headlights for me a while back.

Thank you!! Those headlights look great!! So the JDM lense covers come without lines from the factory or were the lines removed during the retrofit? I think I understand about painting the projector now....the projector lense isn't painted the projector housing the lense sits inside of gets painted right? Does that effect the color of thr light coming out? If it doesn't affect the color of the light I will definitely be trying that when I do version 2!!

trackmkiii - the lines were removed during the retrofit process. You're correct -- the lenses are not painted, it's a piece inside the projector that gets painted. It doesn't affect the light output at all. Unfortunately my car was sold before the headlights retrofit project completed. I'm thinking of putting these headlights up for sale locally.
