I just brought a 94 GS 300 and I have 114,000 miles on it.. I would like to change the transmission oil. What should I buy and where should i purchase these parts at? About how much should this cost me total?

welcome to the club, buddy!!

i would use a synthetic type tranny oil with the weights recommended. i used mobil 1 synthetic tranny oil and had no problems. you can purchase at any auto store. i dont know what others use but to me, i've been using mobil 1 products since i reached nearly 75,000 miles. i have 115,000 now and still runs great with the maintenance of changing engine oil every 3000 miles. i also replaced the gear oil, though i'm not that good on giving instructions cuz it wz kind of difficult from the beginning. others might explain to you with better details....

There is a plug under the car at the transmission pan.. take screw out to drain. There is no filter. I use Dextron III auto trans fluid. Manual suggests Dextron II or its equivalent. You can purchase your favorite brand.. Castrol, Havoline etc. at any parts store ie. AutoZone, Advance, NAPA. I run normal fluid, not synthetic and i have TWICE as many miles on my tranny as you.And refill.. I forgot how many quarts it takes maybe 4.5 - 5, but use your dipstick as a guide.

Make sure you use a red oil. My mechanic used it for my car and it will last 7,000 miles instead of the normal 3,000. I forgot the brand but it wasn't cheap. I think it was Prestone.
