Aux input question for the electricaly inclined
Hey guys! I recently did the Aux input mod on my '95 GS that someone posted on here a while back (can't remember who, so can't give credit...) But, it's the mod that includes attaching a connector to the testing pins inside the head unit itself. Eventually, I want to plug an actual Bluetooth piece into this Aux connection so I don't have to worry about plugging in the phone every time.
I'm using a Galaxy S2, and my issue is this:
The test connection does not recognize a connection unless the radio is already playing some type of audio. And it has to be actual audio -it doesn't work if my radio is on TAPE, and I plug in my phone.. I always have to put it on FM first, plug the phone in, start a song, then switch it to TAPE. It also seems to work on TAPE first, if my phone is already playing audio.
So, I'm wondering if this is because the test connection is looking for continuity in order to activate, but my phone might have a mechanical type connection and doesn't show continuity until music starts playing.
If this is the case, can I Y off of the test connection, short out the Y'd connection so it always shows continuity, and have it be active at all times?
I'm going to be listening to my phone probably 99% of the time, and don't want to constantly start on FM or with a song playing on my phone every time I get in the car.
If this is the norm, and there's no fix for it, I'll deal with it.. But I'd like to try and fix it if possible.
