Default Brown Stuff in engine bay

Hey guys. There seems to be some sort of leak in my engine. Well it seems to be leaking directly onto my main belt. Reason why i believe it is leaking directly on the belt is because

1. Under the hood, directly above the belt there is this brown line splatter that could only be caused from something leakin on the belt, and due to the belt turning fast it shoots up on the hood,
2. My radiator hose which is above my belt also has this same brown stain on it about 2-3 inches wide right above the belt,
3. it even shot all the way to the battery, there is also some of this brown stuff on my battery
4. same substance was found on my air box.
5. Directly under the belt, on the plastic piece that covers the bottom of the engine there is this brown stuff also.

I tried picking off and wiping off the stuff but it wont come off. its dry on there. Anyone have any idea of what it could be?? if you guys can do me a favor can you check these spots to see if you guys have the same stuff i do?? especially on the radiator hose and under the hood?? thanks.

I'll try to go pick up a camera this weekend to take pics if you guys are having a hard time understanding.

Here's a wild guess. When I purchased my car I had alot of things changed. Timing Belt, Fan Belt, Water pump, fuses, plugs, and my gasket. My gasket had stuff dried around it, just as you are describing. So basically my gasket was leaking a lil brown stuff....

john, the only way to check is this way. start the car and check for leaks from
coolant hoses, since you had flushed yr cooling system a few days ago. that cud be the
problem. just pop yr hood and let the engine run. also, check underneath for any other leaks.

If it was before you flushed your coolant system... ..... was the coolant in the old system brown?

Are you smelling a coolant leak (scent of antifreeze) now?

Check your water pump.. there is a drain plug underneath. If the pump is malfunctioning it will leak coolant. The coolant will hit the alternator and belts. This must be fixed quickly if this is the problem, as the coolant will destroy the alternator.

Also, check for an increase in engine temp.

The water pump is what your fan is connected to. Right below the distributor cap.
