Default Staying with the first gen gs(question)

I just went to go look at some SC today and i am soo disappointed. I parked my car (stock) next to a SC also stock, also black like mine. My GS looks soo much better than the SC. they sc looks too round and the back isn't very attractive. i think i'm going to sell my 93 gs and get a 96-97 first gen gs. Here is my question

starting in 95 the SC had the audible alarm, so when you arm and disarm the door lock it makes a beeping nose(sounds soo dam good). i was wondering if the first gen gs also had the same noise. anyone of you 95, 96, 97 owners have factory keyless entry that makes a beeping noise when you press the botton?? Thanks.

btw. i'm looking to get another black on dark grey leather gs. exactly like what i have now. and with lower miles so you guys can look forward to TURBo. lol

Default 96-97 GS

I have a 96 GS and yes, the factory keyless makes the beeping sound just like the current models.

I believe the 96-97 also have the 5 speed automatic transmission. Not a bad idea to upgrade.

The last version (not SC430) of the SC300/400 looks pretty nice. It has a different front-end and rear-end that makes it look pretty slick. I prefer this version over the first version of the SC300/400. Some people in the SC300/400 forum retrofitted their older version with the new bumpers and it looks really great. Just another option.

Here is a thread where the person converted their 95 to a 2000. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...300+conversion

This thread lists the parts needed for the conversion. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...300+conversion

but those cars go for like 18,000 or so for a 97+. or if i get a pre 97 and convert it it will cost me a good grand or more. i prefer to spend 15 or so on a gs that has a little more space and looks much meaner and than the sc. the gs can be fixed up so much nicer than any sc i've seen.

The SC and GS are both very nice cars, and of course, it all comes down to personal preference. I prefer the GS because of the room and because it is bigger so it is a little more imposing. I also like the look of the car.

thanks for asking bro. i switched in the new rotor for the distribcap and it seem like it helped a lot. much smoother throtlle and no more wierd idle probelms. engine light came on ONCE after i started the engine the other day for like 30 sec but dunno why.

If youre patient, you can get a great condition 97 sc300 for about $16,000, but most likely, this will be from a private owner. I say go for the 97 unless you are fortunate enough to find a 5 speed in good condition.

So is the 96-97 GS better in a way? Besides the fact that it has a 5 speed and the audible alarm...
thanks

i've seen a couple of 95 sc with chirp. i guess the chirp started in 96 for the gs. so i'll be looking at a 96+ then.
