Default Old man Marcus going with nitrous

No...... not inhaling the stuff.... I just ordered the NOS kit that is a dry charge.... will take several weeks to get here. I would appreciate any experience, problems, warnings about a nitrous system. I am using Bosch platinum-4 plugs now. I have heard that platinum plugs should not be used, what advise can you guys give me on that??? The kit has 3 different nozzles for 3 different HP boosts. Suppposedly it will give me 40 to 60 more hp at the rear wheels..... is that wishful thinking or is it true???
Also... this kit uses existing fuel injectors, but puts them into a "open loop mode", thereby giving the extra gas I will need. I appreciate any thoughts. Jmai... stick with 1st Gen... I drove a 1st Gen SC and was not happy.

Default nos

hi guys,

can anyone explain to me what the diff is between wet and dry systems? I may want to hook up nos in my first gen, but know nothing on the subject. I'd like to have a little extra oomph but by no means do i want to come off like a ricer...

Winter is back in Michigan..... too cold and not enough spare time. I will keep you posted when I finish the installation.

Dry System will give you 40 to 60 hp increase and everything remains stock.

Wet system can give you 100-150hp, but will take fuel injector replacement ..... even up to 1000 hp if you really modify the engine, fuel injectors, main ECU , lower compression, etc.

Marcus, what was the cost on the setup that you are going with? And does it automatically kick in at Wide Open Throttle or do you have a button?

I've thought about Nitrous too, but want more info, also i head Nitrous could be bad on your engine, definitely don't want that. I would really be interest in 0-60 times and/or top speed increases with NOS.

Any answers anyone?

I got the entire kit for $425.00 from J C Whitney Co out of Chicago. Normally $500.00, but I had a 15 percent off coupon, only good until 3-31-03.

Our engines are not only cast iron block, but cast iron head. That is why these engines can take a lot of extra horsepower. The kit has no button to push, but does kick in under full throttle... that is what I want. When I get time I will get it installed.. amazing thing is that they claim it only takes 3-4 hours to install everything.

Thanks Marcus, under normal use, how long did the estimate the bottle to last? Are you going with a 40lb bottle?

Hey does the system work by interfacing with the ECU? Or how does it work? I think it's only bad for the engine if it kicks in at the wrong time. I don't understand about the platinum plugs, can they not handle the heat?

i think you have to use 2 step colder on plugs when using nitrous....
and probably retard the timing a few degrees.......just to be safe....
