Default Window Trim

OK, I just picked up my driver's side window trim today from Carson toyota ($304 plus tax in case anyone need to know.) Now, does anyone have instructions for replacing this thing? Once I get the old one out, I'll see if the old one is repairable. TIA.

I also would like to know. I wonder if you have to take the glass out to get it off. Anyone have the repair manual? If I buy one it is going to be to answer this very queston. Wind noise is pissing me off.

You had any luck yet? It looks to me that you have to take the interior panels off so you can get to the bolts that hold on the side-view mirror. After you take that off you might have to also remove the window glass and maybe it slides out? I was looking at it this weekend but didn't take anything apart.

WOOO HOOOO, finally got my new trim on. Looks like just in time with the rain today and all. No more wind on the freeway. PITA, but well worth it. All the tools you need are in your lexus tool kit.

0. roll window down
1. take pillar speaker cover off.
2. unscrew pillar speaker. 2 srews
3. pull panel away from door (1 screw in vent hole 3 bolts at very bottom of the door skin) you only need to pull the skin away fron the door about 3-4 inches on the right side if you're looking directly at it.
4. unplug side view mirror. it's about 4 inches down and 4 inches to the left
5. unbolt the side mirror and pull the cable through the hole. 3 bolts
6. remove the window trim and pull the speaker through the trim hole (held in place by 1 screw on the left side behind the panel, you'll need a short phillips screwdriver)...be careful not to break it...i know from experience...$40 dollar mistake...used
7. pull the rubber seal out of the window frame (the top rubber that goes around the window. no need to completely remove it from the door. just enough to get the frame out.)
8. the frame is held in place by 6 screws on the inside track, 1 where the side view mirror is at, and 4 nuts where the interior trim was.
9. once you get those off, pull the trim straight up and it should slide right out
10. reverse the process to get the new frame in.

Now about repairing the damn thing. I had to break off what was left of the old clip in order to get the new frame on. If you can keep the clip in tact, i think you can use some sort of super-stregth epoxy or something to get everything back together. I didn't bother. What the hell was I gonna do with an extra frame anyway :O) Hopefully I didn't miss any steps, just PM me if you have any questions.

Default 3m adhesive

I finally fixed mine also, I just put the 3m adhesive on the trim and clamped it down for a couple hours and it seems like it is holding up very well, if I would have used a C clamp it would have been perfect, but no wind noise anymore.

Default Adhesive

I think this stuff is pretty common, I actually did a search on yahoo on 3m adhesive, it was actually a yahoo store. The name of it is Automotive trim adhesive in a large red tube, it was like $25. If you can't find it let me know. I will take some pics, I should have took before and after but.......
