Default Anyone install aftermarket trunk struts?

I just installed them on my girlfriends GS300, and now it takes a lot of effort to close the trunk. My girlfriend can't even do it on her own. The shocks are Strong Arm from Strauss Auto. Anyone has any experience with them, will they become softer in a little while?

I'm not familiar with them... but they would probably work good for someone with a rear spoiler. How much were they? Do they sell hood shocks?

I would suggest you tale those back off and opt for the factory ones. If you look at the rear of the trunk when closed you will see that it is pushed upwards. This will allow water etc. to get into the trunk.

Look at it and let me know what you see.

yeah, it does look like the trunk isnt completely flush anymore. Its probably best to get originals, now, wheres a good place to get them, local dealership wants over $100 per one

Maybe by "strongarm" they mean that you'll have a strong arm after closing the trunk a few times.

EDIT: ok that was bad I am sorry.. Hold on OCH do you AND your GF have a GS300 or is that just JMAI?

That's funny because I have the GS and my girlfriend has a civic. Her car is a '95 and it's starting to have all sorts of little problems. I love the civic, it's a fun little car to drive and easy to work on.

That's cool. Yeah in her car the glove box makes the most noise, I just shoved a rag in there and it keeps everything from moving around. What sucks is the car was rear-ended and the bodyshop didn't fix the clip that holds down the spare and it makes all sorts of noise now.

Latest problem is the front brakes make a popping/grinding noise when you press the brake pedal in about 50% or less (as you are moving). My friend and I replaced a failed motor mount but that wasn't it. Car drives great, though. She's going to try and trade it for an RSX or a Matrix in September so we are tying to get the car tip-top for the trade-in.

Back to the topic, the LS400 guys replaced their truck shocks with MIGHTY LIFT (avail at autozone) and said it worked great. If someone can find the thread they did post the part # but said it was hard to find. I have a friend in SoCal who is a manager there (autozone) and I'm sure he could order it for whomever wants it. I think some dremel work was involved.

Yeah, I replaced her hood shocks with Mighty Lifts, they work great, but there are no mighty lifts that would fit the rear. SC and LS have different type of bracket.
