95 gs300 w58 swap
Hello everyone i just bought a low mileage 95 GS300 a couple weeks ago for 100$. The car wouldnt start and the kid couldnt figure out why so I was able to trade him the car for a PS3 and a 100$ lol. All I Had to do was clean the battery and swap the alternator and there was life. The car runs good so im wanting to put in this w58 from a supra I used to have but I dont really know all the parts im going to need or fabricate. If theres is anybody whose done this swap or any manual swap at all the help would be Much appreciated

Joewitafro covered a lot of the details for the manual swap in his build thread. Here is a link

Good luck with your build. Post some pics and start a build thread so everyone can follow your progress.

Another reason why I'm doing the swap is because the car is having problems with the transmission. It will go into reverse and I can accelerate, but when I put it into drive the car moves but it doesn't accelerate at all when revving. Has anyone else had this problem? Read something on the sc300 having solenoid problems but I don't want to take it out to check.
Heres what I found when I jacked up the car

It does seem to accelerate when it was in the air. the previous owner put three extra quarts of oil in the tranny so I drained the excess and now its at the proper mark. the fluid didn't look bad But IDK could be cause it mixed with the new fluid.

Wow I have never seen chunks the driveshaft coupler missing and the bolts coming out of the diff is really strange. I wonder what cause all of that.
I had the same problem with my trans. I dropped the trans pan, cleaned everything out and installed a new trans filter. The trans word great for about 45,000 miles. When I cleaned the trans I used about 5 or 6 cans of alcohol base brake cleaner and sprayed everything...valve body, clutch packs etc. then let everything just drip out and dry. I added a few extra magnets to the trans pan and an inline trans filter. Thats also a good time to add an auxiliary trans cooler as well.
