Synthetic
I use fully synthetic oil. I use Valvoline 5W-30 in the winter
and 10W-30 in the summer. It's a little bit thinner in the winter
so it can flow better since the engine is cold,
and thicker in the summer to withstand heat better.
My number one reason for using synthetic oils is
the following: unlike regular oil, synthetic one does not have
free harmful particles floating around since it's being formulated and
synthesised. And I change my oil every 1,500 miles, I know it's
needless to do, but it makes me feel better about my car, because
I push it to the limit a lot. Also my advise would be to change your
coolant regularly, because once it gets old it becomes acidic and
that will harm the engine. I change my coolant every 6,000 miles.
That's my .02. Good luck, bro.

Amsoil xl7500
I use Amsoil XL7500 and change it every 6000 miles, filter at every 3000 miles. I was a hardcord 3k-oil-change person before and have used Mobil1, Castrol Syntec, and Quaker synthetic. Here is what I've found:
In my Pontiac GrandPrix when I used Mobil1, it knocked really loud every morning when first started. Castrol Syntec and Quaker din't have this problem. However, all of these oils get really dark at 3k miles. So what's the point? If you're going to change your oil at 3k miles, don't waste your money on synthetic. Conventional oil will do just fine.
Now I'm running XL7500 in my GS300. What surprises me most is that this oil stays clear all the way to 6K miles when I change it. Now I swear by Amsoil.
You can switch to synthetic anytime as long as your car doesn't leak, remember to flush your engine first before putting in the synthetic oil. Don't waste your money on anything else, go Amsoil!
