Default Injen intake, K&N...

Hey guys,

I've been thinking hard and I have 3 options. If you guys want to get in on me let me know so that we can get a good price.

I have been debating on either getting 1) K&N drop in filter, 2) K&N cone filter with MAF, and 3) Injen Intake for our cars available for 175.00. (I really don't want to use the civic piping).

When I need to do a smog, I hope the Intake won't be a problem.

What do you guys think? Right now I am in limbo, not sure whether to get the exhaust or intake first, but my bet is intake first as i found the injen kit for our cars.

Thanks

I'm thinking you should get the exhaust first - everyone says it doesn't do anything for performance but it's the sound/look you're going for anyway, right?

Besides, you are going to have to deal with the intake again WHEN you go turbo, so might as well wait on that.

It all depends on what you want. If you want more power and don't mind the noise, get an exhaust. Toyota's notorious for restricting the heck out of their engines. I good custom exhaust job will work wonders, but it'll also be significantly more noticeable. If you just love the fact that are cars a nearly as quite on as when they're on, then your best bet is to just get the K&N drop-in and leave it at that. In my opinion, it's pointless to get the conical K&N unless you're replacing the the silencer as well. However, since you don't want to mix and match, just get the Injen... as long as you don't mind a "sucking" noise from under your hood.

I don't mind the sucking noise as it just lets me know that air is being sucked in.

or if you don't want to drop $200 on an injen you can get a civic intake on ebay for $35 and it looks good, works just as well, and sounds great. You'll have to buy/make an adapter for the maf though as it is square while the filter is round. Check out my site for pics.

Then go with the Injen system. I personally wouldn't spend that kind of cash on an intake, but if you don't feel like making one yourself, then by all means... get the Injen.
