Default Lexus gs300

Have a question?

will a 1998 Lexus gs300 differential fit or bolt up to a 1996 Lexus gs300

2nd gen GS300/400 differentials will fit, but the flange is the same as the auto JZA80 turbo input flange which is different than the NA jza80/jzs147 first gen flange.

Per Jeff Tsai.. "remove the companion flange(the 3 bolt flange going to the rubber driveshaft isolator) from the old GS300 diff, and swap it with the one on the TT diff (2nd gen gs). Simply remove the large(I think 32 or 34mm nut holding the 3 bolt flange on the diff) nut, and pull the flange out. Reinstall according to the factory manual specs and check preload on the diff. Replace the crush sleeve if necessary. When you're done, stake the nut and you're good to go"

The internal open diff can swap over with no issues but to change ring and pinion it would have to be setup again by someone who can set the mesh and tolerances correctly.
