Gas Mileage Calculations
Hey guys,
I really never knew what type of mileage I could get. I always assumed 300 as that is what most people with our cars tell me.
The MPG includes the mods I have on my car, injen hi flo filter, rims, and magnaflow exhausts(no piping).
After calculating, my mileage which includes both highway/city driving comes out to 18.05. Which is basically 18 MPG. Which means I can get 380 miles on a full tank if I wanted to "red line the fuel gauge" haha .
Here is how I determined it. I topped off my car last week and our cars can hold 21.1 gallons. I am assuming that the car is probably only taking in a little under 21 gallons so it doesn't overfill.
With that in mind I am using 21.1 as what is in my tank when I top it off. Today I filled up 12.36 gallons. So 21.1 - 12.36 =8.74 mpg still in my tank when I was filling up(the fuel needle was just above the last line).
Basically before I filled up, I had driven 223.1 miles with 12.36 gallons. So dividing 223.1 by 12.36 yields 18.05 MPG. Thus giving me roughly 18 MPG and 380 on a full tank.
Are you guys getting similar mileage or more? With or without mods?

I actually get decent gas mileage. I've traveled 450 miles on a tank of gas (5 freeway between LA & SF). Normally, I get 18-20 mpg on mixed freeway and street driving. I keep my tire pressures pretty hight (40psi front, 36 psi rear). I also clean my K&N during every oil change and use synthetic oil.

I couldn't believe it myself, cruising at 80mph the engine just sips gas. I also try to take really good care of the engine. It has 186,000 miles now and it only uses half a quart between oil changes. It's been running really well until Thursday when it sprang a leak. There was a lot of oil leaking from the engine and it turns out that the seal on the oil pressure switch worn out and oil leaked. It's fixed now so I treated her to an oil change and filter cleaning

I just filled my tank and got about 20.2mpg. (Most of the miles were Highway miles this time) When I'm driving on city streets (which is usually what I do), I get around 16-18 mpg.
