Default Official how to fix your powerseat for free

Hey guys I’m posting this because I couldn’t find it anywhere else and if it’s already on here then idk.
step 1

You’re gonna need to remove the plastic pieces covering the four bolts holding the seat down
Step 2

This is probably the hardest part of this whole job because the plastic pieces are very stubborn to remove but fear not because they are made of quality plastic and won’t snap on you like you might expect. These bolts are 9/16

Finessing the seat out shouldn’t be that hard it’s just a little heavy but make sure you grab it from the bottom metal pieces and not from the plastic parts
step 3

Remove the Phillips head screw from the blue/gray plastic piece next to the gold hex bolt in the bottom left of the pic and then wiggle out the piece it should come out with no effort and it’s going to be useless after everything anyway cause it will have nothing to clip on to
Step 4

Remove these two bolts which hold this part in order to be able to adjust it in the next step. They are 12mm
step 5

Unscrew the middle hex nut in this pic until the thing from the previous step is all the way at the back of the rail the nut will eventually unscrew off. That’s ok. This is also a 12mm
Step 6

Next you remove the two Allen key bolts which is a 6mm I think but I used a 5.5mm and it came off with ease
step 7

Remove these two philips head screws which you could have seen in a previous picture so that the screw like adjuster bolt and just slide out from the front end of the seat
step 8

This is at the front of the seat and it’s connected to the motor which adjusts the seat back and forth. Unscrew it until you start seeing the threads. It will be greasy but takes virtually no effort to unscrew

And once you unscrewed it all the way out it takes a little effort to wiggle it out but should not have to be forced out
Step 9

This is what it looks like with the long screw out

Notice the end of the screw it looks like an axle once’s everything is unscrewed that piece slides out effortlessly from a white plastic piece at the front of the seat. Which is what’s broken not allowing for adjustment so it must come out too
step 10

Don’t forget to clean under your seat because it must look like a nightmare of 27 years of not seeing daylight

This piece is what holds the wire to the seat. Again it’s not cheap plastic so you can twist it out without breaking it and then also put it back in I forgot to mention this step first
step 11

Just clip this bad boy back in and you can align your seat to test out its functionality and then bolt in the 4 9/16 bolts and you’re done

Basically it’s a gear in that white plastic pierce in the last pic at the end of the thread. It wears out over years but basically it’s a circle gear ⚙️ connected to a metal worm gear but if you remove all the stuff I said you won’t even need to see the broken piece I hope that helps. I will take pic tomorrow and post

This plastic gear on the rod is the piece that is supposed to mesh with the metal worm gear but wears out instead causing the seat to get stuck

Do you have to replace anything or is it usually fine after you un-stuck it?

So after cleaning everything up it works ok? Looks like that plastic gear needs to be replaced and I think that is often the case. If it works, that's great! But it may only work for a little while. Best thing you can do to prolong the life is adjust the seat with no weight on it to reduce the stress on that plastic gear.

Once you remove all those pieces and put the seat back in it works fine. I said the post says FREE because you don’t replace the gear it’s garbage. Literally FREE cause if you replace the gear it costs money
