Just got my GS 300 serviced and was down a quart. I see no leaks and the tech said it was due to the "gum" inside the engine. Is ths normal to have an engine burning oil at 152k? Anything I can put in it to make it run better? What kind of oil is good for this mileage? I need some advice. Thanks.

I run strictly 10w-40 non-synthetic oil and a full bottle of Lucas Oil Stabilizer at every oil change. I just clocked 189500, and thus far she's been good with oil. A quart every 3000K miles for a car with over 150K isn't anything to worry about. I'd recommend getting the engine flushed at the next change, and the Lucas is definitely worth a try. Also, if it makes you feel any better, it's considered "normal" for the Chevy LS-1 engine to burn a quart every 3 months WHEN IT'S BRAND NEW!!!! Gotta love that American engineering.
