Default GS window frame/trim repair?

Hey guys, if there’s a sticky somewhere of this info already up, please let me know. I did try to look.

when I bought this car, there are a few things I wanna get fixed but one thing at a time.

the window frame on my driver door is popped out. Like there’s the black trim that runs down and around the outer window. Behind that there’s a metal frame. I think maybe at one point someone may have tried breaking into the car. Idk. But if anyone knows how to fix this properly, I’d sure be grateful. Lol. I don’t wanna stick finger clamps on it. I like to fix things right. Thank you in advance

Huge issue with many of our cars... Sadly there isn't really a good fix because most of ours already broke. I hear people throwing sheet metal screws into the trim (thats what my cars previous owner did) but I wouldn't recommend it. I advise you to take it off and find whats broken, and maybe find a body shop to see if they got some real strong adhesives or double sided tapes to keep it together. It will break if you keep it like how yours is, then your looking at a 500 dollar replacement part from lexus.

Here's how to remove

I have the exact same issue on my 94. Problem is I can't seem to find a replacement trim online. Everywhere says discontinued. Anyone know a source for old Lexus trim parts?

No interchangeability with the newer models. You need to find a junk yard with the 93-97 gs300 and follow that video to find used trim. Part number for the drivers side front is 75702-30100, which is discontinued in the USA from lexus. Although its a slim but slight chance still available to japanese only customers at toyota. Having RHDjapan do a stock check for me to determine if they can buy this from the dealership still or not, but before it was discontinued it was a $500 per door piece, so might as well hit up a junk yard..

i have actually found a OEM replacement. $90 and only 1 left. I just don’t have 90 to replace it right now when other more important things could be fixed. But with the YouTube video that’s been provided above, I’m gonna bet I can remove that trim and fix it without breaking anything.

OEM replacement you're looking at is probably the interior plastic trim, at least that is what most mistake.

ah I see now. The part I found was the run channel for the right hand side. Part # 68141-30250 Which is what I thought was popped out.

I would strongly suggest for you guys as a group to get a hold of a clean Driver side window trim piece, and find a bidy shop that will make you a fiberglass copy/mold for a good price. And everyone collectively chip in for that aervice to make the mold.

Then every 1st gen aristo/gs300 owner worldwide can buy a new window trim at a reasonable price.

Heck, if a single person did the same steps above and decided to sell the fiberglass driverside trim at $150 each, they would easily make some decent money.

A fee years back, I used to go to the junk yard and pull em off and sell em here but its been a while. Thats where I made the video on How to remove.

just some food for thought.

Better than what it use to be. I saw in another thread someone repaired theirs by using JB weld. I was never gonna know what was really wrong with mine until I took it apart. Using that video above, I removed it. Sure enough, the rivets were busted. I had thought about sending the trim off to someone who could duplicate it but I don’t have the money for that. However, like the other person said, if we get enough guys to purchase a new one, or even use mine, I’d have it duplicated.

While I don't know and can't tell for certain if they would rectify our problem or are just covers, Artisan Spirits does make pillar trims for our cars.
