Default Wheel/Tire Width

How wide of wheels/tires will fit with no mods, no rubbing or scrubbing, and no fender work?
I'd like a square setup, and I plan on eventually putting on some nice coilovers and lowering about an inch.
If there are any good setups you'd recommend I'd love to hear'em, I'd prefer 17 or 18 inch rims.
I'm not looking to MAX out the width I'm just trying to figure out reasonably how wide I can go and what offset would be needed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man, it's good to know that a 245 will work in the front. I'm thinking of going with 245/45 on 17x8.5 rims with +42mm offset all around. Any thoughts on this setup?

This is with XXR 521's 18x8.5 +25 fronts with 245/40/18 (a little bit of rub I have also ran 235/40/18 with no issue). Rears are 18x10 +25 and shown with 285/45/18 (this size is hard to find so I run 285/40/18 or 275/45/18 now)

Honestly I think 17’s are small for a boat of a car like the 1st Gen.. unless you run those old school Jap style wheels, then I can see the style !

I wouldn't mind 18''s, but I wanted to try 17''s first, plus, I found a 17'' setup for a bit cheaper than comparable 18'' setups.
Well anyway, I already ordered them so thanks for all your guys help. I'll make sure to send pics when they arrive!
