I have a 96 Navy Blue. Watch out for the normal GS maladies. Wading Pool spare tire well, broken cup holder, window moulding issues, thats about it. I had to replace my tranny at 94k (Lexus Paid for it-CPO), and thats the only thing I have done outside of normal maintenence. I bought the car with 59k, and put my first set of 20s on it a week later, so the driveline is strong.
Of course look out for burnt out bulbs. If your picking up a high mileage model, just be ready to pay for normal and abnormal repairs, it comes with the territory!
Good luck, too bad you in CA, I'm selling my car!

i bought my lexus gs3 a few monthes ago and it runs great. though i have lil holes in the back leather trim. and the occasional cup holder problem the car runs awesome. its a 1996 and i bought it for 9k so it was a good deal. wonder if i need to change the tranny? 117k on it....anyways also watch for the tire well. there was a problem there but it got fixed

Nakamichi--was this a rare option?
How rare was the Nakamichi sound system, and what years was it available? I check out the 1st gens all the time on eBay and Autotrader, and rarely see cars with Nak. Is the system as impressive as the ones on the older SC and LS that were supposed to be superb?
