Default First Gen Radio Question

Does anyone make a aftermarket radio installation kit for the first gen GS? My searches have led me nowhere.

NONE, you gotta go buy ABS plastic or something and make your own. plastic cost about 5 bucks a sheet. and you can make 2 out of 1 sheet. but expect to do it 2-3 times until you get it right.

K, well that answers that... anybody know how much it would run to have a custom bracket made to put one in... I would just take it to a shop and have them do the full install, but I don't feel like paying someone to do the wiring, too, when I could just do that myself.

Default this is what mine looks like

i used a es300 face plate but then i had to shave down the sides of it becouse the es radio is a little wider than or gs,but you will not find a wireing harnes for them or i couldnt but what i did was test the wires at the amp and taped each wire from the aftermarket radio to the amp wires b4 they go into the amp,and i used the factry bracket to mount both the dvd player and head unit that is holding in your factry radio ,ill help you if you need but this is what mine turned out like ...

Default hey y2kr1...

was shaving the sides of the es300 one the only modification you had to do? Does it still mount using the factory mounts? What year(s) ES300 kit did you use?

Looks nice y2kr1...

Leets, the ES300 mod will be the easiest. I can't remember, but I think you will need to adjust your mounting points, which wouldn't be too hard with the A/C controls out.

I also did MDF and fiberglass. The hard part with that is matching the colors to the plastic dash. It took us several paintjobs to get it right.

I made mine out of 1/8 inch MDF till the metra one came out, used some undercoating for texture, looked alright, for just a trim piece
