My Lock/Unlock feature on my 03 GS430 only works when it is within approximately a foot away from the doors. Is this normal? Thanks.

Have you changed the battery? When I use the Amazon batteries they suck but a brand new official battery and it works good again from far away

I have not because they were new keys that I had to buy after I bought the car. The keys came from the company that I sent my ECM to so they could break down the code and program the keys. Then I had to program the keys to the locks. Still haven't programmed the trunk lid yet. If it is just a battery though, that would be great.

I bet they used a cheap battery. Buy a good one and change it that should fix it

I agree. Get a good lithium battery and be amazed by the distance of your key fob. I can lock/unlock my doors from inside of my house now.

Well. I changed the battery out this morning and unfortunately, the lock/unlock still exhibits the same issue. Time to dig deeper. I sooo wish that my GS showed the same reliability and quality as my SC430. I have so few issues with that car that I judge all others to that standard. Probably not fair. But it is a Lexus and I just dont expect this kind of stuff just because one is a convertible and one is a hard top. 🙄

it could also be the car battery. Has that been changed? You can’t really compare the two cars unless you had them both brand new. It all depends how it was treated its entire life. That being sad, I’m sure the quality will be a little better on the SC since the MSRP was higher then the GS, although higher price doesn’t always mean higher quality.
