Default Mark Levinson Audio system?

What's so great about it? I have the equalizers buttons maxed and the stereo is still lame.

year? and with the Nav package?

I love mine

Out of 11 notches for bass it's at 10
for MID it at -1
and treble 9

I added a RF HE2 tho.

and overall it's clear as hell and doesn't distort. Maybe you have some blown speakers?

Compared to what? I have never heard a stock car stereo system sound as full or reproduce sounds as accurately.

Maxing an equalizer is a lame approach to getting the most out of an audio system.

His system doesn't seem to be functioning properly or he just expects way too much.

But yah like you said... try turning off adaptive sound and equaling BASS MID TREBLE to the middle and make sure your sound is balanced twards the middle and not to the back or front left right.

Ok ...Ok calm down. I'm the one who just bought a 04 TL, which had a great stereo system but a crappy ride and traded it in for a GS 5 days later. That's what I was comparing it too.

Equalizers are meant to help you tune the sound. Maxing everything basically amounts to turning the volume up. It is somewhat of a simplification but true nonetheless. Try tuning the sound to what you like: more bass, mids, ... then use volume appropriately.

Not sure what kind of music or listening habits you have so I can't comment more. Just trying to help.

When the speakers are balanced I hear all the audio coming from the front and when I fade it to the back it sounds like something’s missing. Now the one big speaker in the back window is it just base?

BTW. I was joking about the Bose>ML

The big "speaker" is a 10" free air subwoofer.

Not usually. Eq 'bands' roll off eiter side of a center frequency, so boosting low/mid/high will make a small 'mountain range' of frequency responses.
