Default 15000 mile service

I have almost 15000 miles on 2003 GS300.

I made appointment at Lexus of smithtown...

429 + tax...

no way..~~~~

any ideas?

it says
change. engine oil, transmission oil, differential oil .... two air filters, one for engine, air conditon.
and some other things such as regular service.

I know it include wiper blade, and ect....but it seems too expansive... do all lexus dealer charge that much?
As I remember I payed litte over 300 for 2000 Acura 3.2TL for similar service and BMW 325 for nothing(included in 3 year service plan)...

Why lexus charge this much?

It's $499 here. A colleague of mine who has a CL430 and he paid $900 for 60K service. Luxury brand vehicles all have higher maintenance costs. Many European brands have higher retail prices than Japanese brands so you get 'FREE' service for three years.

don't be fooled, especially with lexus. i have 50k miles on my car and i never service at lexus. change oil, tranny fluid and differential, that's mostly what you need. sometimes you check on the fluids (brakes, etc...) and you can always rotate tires yourself if anything.

that's about it. i don't see any reason to pay that much to dealership for these easy stuff

I swear I have no clue why people think Lexus service is good. Every dealer here in the Chicago area pulls the same bull. Check your owner's manual and you will see that over 1/2 of what they want to do at 15K is not called for until 30K. Somehow I think the Toyota engineers "might" know more than the Lexus techs when it comes to what the car needs.

My wife's RX300 was just about out of warranty so we had the 45K rip off service done. No problems found. Just took the car in 4K later and suddenly we have a transmission pan leak, completely plugged air conditioner filter, and a steering boot squeak. They took care of the leak and squeak under warranty (4 days out of warranty) but the air conditioning filter was $85. Nice. Why do people love Lexus service again? It has to be the wash job which I admit is incredible.

The european brands free service isn't as good as it sounds. The dealers will only do service when the engine computer says it is time. Which is at about 10 or 12,000 miles. Think about it. When you were paying for service they wanted you to come in at 3 or 5,000 miles, now that they are paying it, it's at 10 or 12.

Default hehe

well...

I want to keep this car until i graduate which is 2 more years...
I never keep the car after warranty expires.. because you know something break....big cost..

I had 1995 BMW 5 series before,,, 1000 for brake change.....0.0

I decided to do the service because it will be safter if something breaks, then lexus will cover it.
I do what they say, and if something goes wrong, they will fix it for free.

I agree with BMW service...
they do 15000 miles interval...which is sucks...

By the people saying lexus service is good means...you don't wait..
I just called this morning for service appointment... next day you can have service with nice loaner car.(
here they give rx330 or es330) competition BMW in LI NY gives camry...hehe can you believe it?
BMW gives Toyota for loaner car...and the advisor says...toyotas don't break ever..hehe

BMW service.....you call them and wait at least 2 weeks...sometimes... they say next month...^-^
Most BMW center have only one alignmnet machine so you have to wait long time for that.
Their are always people waiting in the front desk for service...ect...
that is why people say lexus service is good....even though it is expansive... we can get it done at least..

I know 429 is a lot of money for me...maybe not for some...after this serivice no more good dining until next month....heheh...

Acura service is good...since cost wise and time wise...but they use to similar part to honda...I hate that.^^

anyway I am waiting for my new Cayyane S

The fact is, with synthetic oil you can get that mileage out of your oil. Also with my 3-series (regular oil, no free scheduled maint) the light still came on at about 9K miles . My 540 was closer to 15K - that did have the free maintenance but it also had synthetic oil.

Also never had to wait to bring my cars in to BMW and always got a loaner. It was always a BMW but personally, I didn't care, a Camry would have been fine. I just don't understand why people care what they get for a loaner.
