Default Do the wipers on the '00 GS400 rest under hood line..Manual says they should

I was going through the manual and found that the wipers on the 2000 GS400 should rest/fold under the hood. Mine are visible and are not under the hood lining. I tried to push them gently so they would go under the hood lining but they dont move, I didnt apply too much pressure though...

The wipers have a winter position and a normal position. I suspect that yours are in the winter position. You can use some force to fold them back to the normal position.

Just grab the wiper and push it down into the 'well' back into the summer position. The winter position is good though for cleaning the wipers.

Default Push it downward

It takes a little force to push it downward ( in recess position ) I changed my blades the other day and I thought at first if it is difficult to do until my Toyota tech showed me how to pull it up correctly. Just push it down, (takes force) and they should not brake.

Default Yes

You are right..I finally got the heart to put some Force and was able to push the wipers back to their summer position, Since the car will never be used in any kind of bad weather.

Do they have to be pulled back out before they can be used in the rain?

NO you don't need to pull back out! Pretty much, I have them stay pushed all year round!!!

Default Recess position all the time

I only pull my wipers out when time to change to a new rubber inserts. Otherwise, they remain hiding under the hood 24/7/365. By keeping them in the hiding position, will minimize wind noise and vibration when the Concorde (GS4) is cruising at high altitude /130 mph
