2005 GS @ Detroit Auto Show
I was just informed that the 2005 GS will be revealed to the public on Jan 4, 2004 at the Detroit Auto Show
If anyone ask you during the holidays what your new years resolution will be tell them you won't be making that decision until Jan 4
Repost from previous thread but this is condensed for your pleasure.
Someone who works for the company (Lexus)-sorry I cannot give you his name, but CL members here in Chicago know who he is sent me this email today. I know it's nothing much but I wanted to peak your curiosity it's comforting to know she's on American soil. All of you on the West coast keep your eyes open for any spy pic's

That pic you sent is indeed a doctored up HPX. Doesn't look anything
like
the new GS. The new GS is lower and longer. I don't know about power
output or performance. I do know the base eng will be a V6. What
struct
me the most is how clean the car is styled and the interior of the
vehicle
as well. I would say the best looking Lexus or Toyota yet. Doesn't look
like anything esle that Lexus or Toyota has come out with. Nice set of
wheels as well. Lets just say I can't wait to get mine!!
The hybrid RX was there as well. That has some performance as well.
Faster that a BMW X5 V8 and gets 36mpg in the city."
The new GS will have the quad headlights, but the rear doesn't

If it's not to be available for another YEAR, why would they show it so soon?

This is what it said:
New Lexus To Head Tokyo Show-stoppers
his is the shape of things to come for the next Lexus GS430. And if you think it's radical, wait until you discover what's under the bodywork.
The car aims to rival BMW's 7-Series and Mercedes' S-Class, and it's clear Lexus is daring to be different in styling as well as technology. With a 4.3-litre V8 hybrid engine producing more than 300bhp, the car is four-wheel drive and promises to set a new performance benchmark for Lexus in August 2005.
It's also likely to offer brake-by-wire technology, which has so far featured only on Mercedes production cars. The newcomer is important for two reasons. Not only will it be the first Lexus to be created entirely by the new research and development team, it will also be the first Lexus-badged car in Japan.
After launch, the GS430 will be joined by the production model of the LF-X concept, a more powerful version of the RX300. The GS wasn't the only star of the Tokyo Motor Show - below are some of the more unusual cars...

Dude, rival the BMW 7 and Benz S? Somehow I dont see that as a feasible claim. There would be no point in having a GS and an LS if they are both in the same class.
