OK, I've been searching and reading past threads on warrantys etc., but I still have not found where I can get the best factory warranty (NOT some third party deal).
I know with my Honda Odyssey there is a huge price difference among Honda dealers for the exact same factory Honda warranty. I assume it's the same with Lexus?
Any warranty "hook-ups"? Thanks...

Is there a factory extended warranty for Lexus? When we bought my wife's RX in 2000, Lexus did not offer a Lexus extended warranty - they were all 3rd party. Not sure if this has changed.

In fact, on the Odyssey forum www.odyclub.com there is even a warranty specific forum that is very useful. That's how I got the great deal and many others have benefited too. I thought maybe someone here at CL knew of a Lexus dealer that had good prices on extended warranties... Anyone?

The answer to your question - Just go to lexus.com, look for the factory warranty you want...Then get on the internet and email dealers. I think it helps if you wait towards the end of the month, and I would expect the end of this month (December) would be ideal.
I did this when I purchased my 2003 GS430. The dealer wanted about $2600 for a 7-year 100k mile platinum warranty. They would not budge, despite my repeated attempts. So I bought the car without the warranty. Then I emailed other Lexus dealers and told them all the same thing - that I just purchased a new GS430 and wanted their best deal on a 7-year 100k mile Platinum warranty. Some dealers never responded, others either were not cooperative or just did not have a price that was much better. I hit paydirt with a Lexus dealer that offered me the warranty for a bit over $1600 - A savings of almost $1000! I was also able to conduct the entire transaction via phone and fax. Then a few weeks later, I received the official warranty from Lexus. Supposedly, the fact that the car is covered by warranty is noted and attached to the VIN number so that all Lexus dealers know the car is covered. I have the official note from Lexus, so I know I'm covered -- But I will probably verify when I go in for my next service...

One other comment - the Lexus dealer I bought the warranty from commented that the only reason he made me the offer he did was that it was the end of the month, and he was trying to sell as many warranties as he good. Based on how good his price was, I believe him...

Thanks a lot for the help! Yeah, I can email Lexus dealers etc. as you suggest-I was just hoping to avoid all that if possible by tapping into other's experiences. Could I get the name of the Lexus dealer and person you dealt with? Thanks!

I really appreciate the info! I will post the results of my inquiry re: extended warranties for anyone else who may be interested. My car only has 1,900 miles on it now, but the time frame expires in about 9 months so I want to take care of it now.

Well, I discovered that my car is not currently eligible for a Lexus extended warranty because it is over 36 months old!
Even though it only has about 2k miles on it, Lexus does not offer the extended warranty through the end of the factory warranty period like most-if not all- other manufacturers. Only 36 mo/36k miles!
HOWEVER-That will very likely change this February (according to a Lexus contact) when Lexus changes their policy to offer the Platinum or Gold warranties through the length of the factory warranty period! My car's build date was April of 2000 so I hope that works out-I would like to get the 7yr/100k Platinum.

OK, I have verified with my local dealer that Lexus has changed their warranty policy to allow the purchase of the Gold or Platinum Lexus extended warranty throught the FULL factory warranty period! As of Feb. 1, you have 4 yrs/50k miles to buy - previously only 3 yrs/36k to buy ext. warranty.
Not sure how many this will affect, but it applies in my case because of the extremely low miles and age of my car (coming up on 4 yrs since build date in April).
Now to shop around for the best deal...
