Thanks for the kind comments. Japan was a blast. It is not often that one gets to go 188 miles per hour on the ground. The Japanese are planning to go even faster...A new train is being developed that will go 250 miles per hour in a few years. I hope to ride that beast too. NOW, this is another close-up of the swivel piece. It actually revolves around that center bolt. Use the mirror controls to move this around and you will see how it operates.

Here is a closeup of the wiring connector after the insulation was removed. The 2 halves unsnap.

After removing the insulation, separate the wiring harness at this point.

To install the new mirror, just reverse the sequence. Next is rewrapping the harness to keep moisture out. PLEASE DO THIS, or water can get in the next time you wash the car. Here is what it looks like. If you have to use new insulation, please do so.

This is a picture of the new mirror before I put it back in the car. It is a far cry from the "JUNK" that was in there when I got it. Now for testing (once you get it back in the car). Once the mirror is in place, and you have tested it to be sure it won't fall out, turn the ignition switch to "on" or start the car, and press the rear defrost button. The rear window defogger should activate, and most importantly, both outside mirrors should start to warm up. Touch the back of your hand to the center of each glass after a minute, and it should be warm. Try to use the rear window defogger ONLY when there is dew on the glass or window. This also applies to these mirrors. You do not want to burn these elements up. Turn off as soon as you feel the heat.

To test the electrochromatic part during the day, put a piece of dark tape over the eye on the backside of the inside rear view electrochromatic mirror(on the windshield side), and then shine a flashlight into the little eye on the mirror side. Make sure the green light on the mirror is on. The mirrors should all darken. If it is getting dark, all you have to do is to shine a flashlight into the mirror to simulate a car coming upon your rear, and the mirrors should all darken.

There, I've done it. If you are careful, changing these mirrors should be easier than the effort I put forth trying to post these photos. Use a little force putting the glass back in, but don't use "Guerrilla Torque" , or you could break something.

Inspect all wiring connections before installation. Flip the mirror around and remember to install the top part with the hooks FIRST., and ensure the mirror is centered before pressing the lower 4 connectors in place. Be sure to test the mirror through the entire range before finally letting go of the mirror.

Well Guys and Girls,
I hope you got something out of all of that, I found out that the internet connection was the blame last night, and it kept saying that the picture was not accepted. However, it looks fine this morning. So I will go back and edit a few comments.

I learned a lot doing this project. Now that it is done, I may do a few more. I guess I was having a bad day yesterday, but today is better. Thanks for bearing with me.
