Looking for better headrests or a mod to make them tilt more towards driver
Hi all:
I am not too happy about the headrests in the car, I was able to tilt the headrests in my older car (a german brand) to the point where it was right behind my head at driving position. The GS's headrest do not tilt enough and i have to move my head way back to rest on them..
Any ideas....

If you're willing to spend the time....you can have your headrests dissassembled and put an offset in the tubing of the headrests....about 1 inch above the notched tubing...this way you still retain the tilting function and can get about 1 inch closer.
If you want to get even closer...you'll have to replace the tubing in each headrest with custom one long enough to have a 2 to 3 inch offset in it.
Hope that helps.

One thing you could do (dont know about the cost effectivness of it) is replace your headrests with ones from a 1st Gen. If you could find a set in your interior color then it wont cost much, if you have to color match them, that it'll be more. The first gens tilt alot more, and they lock in posistion, not just a friction lock like the 2nd Gen, but a rachet style lock.
I was going to have my headrests from my 96 re-upholstered to match the 98, but I want to do more important stuff before A/V so I sold them. I did a test fit in a 98 though, and they fit no prob!

If you are looking for a cheap alternative, go to ebay motors, then parts then type in Lexus GS. There is a vendor who sells travel type pillows that strap onto your headrests, they come in various colors and have
the word Lexus embroidered on them. Cheesy but effective.
