Default GS owners..I need your advice...

WHATs! UP! GUYS!......I just got my 01' mil silver GS tinted with
Formula 1 20% and I have been told that you cannot tint the black dots on the back window.....and
as a result I have a small area that looks as if it's missing tint..Its visible from inside the car but not
visible from outside the car....Any of you guys got this issue?? Do you guys with tint have tint on the area on the back window with black dots? If so have u noticed any problems??? I wanna know if I should take it back and have the guy re-do the window....

LET ME KNOW....
THANKS IN ADVANCE..

OH yeah...TINT is a MUST!!

Default Tint

Is it missing tint or does it just look funny around the dots? they can tint over the dots but because they are so close together it leaves a bubble look, some shops stop tinting at the dot matrix and some don't, what you can do if the shop stopped there is have them put a strip of black vinyl (sticker material) there instead and it will look fine.

When I got mine tinted I was under the impression that you could not tint over the black dots, but when the work was done on my GS there were no uncovered areas in the rear window. I have a double layer done on my car, and 3M film was used, I believe (Doubt brand matters). I did notice he slightly used heat on the edges over the black dots, though. It's been about 8 months since the work was done, and it still looks like the day I had it done.

I've never heard of this before? Why can't you tint over the black dots? Safety reasons?

Default Not a safety issue at all

It's just more a pain in the a$$ factor. The dots will need a tremendous amount of work and effort by the tint shop to get the bubbles out and the tint adhereing properly to avoid future bubbling. Most places will just stop at the dots.

it can be tinted over. Our previous car - acura tl - had extensive black dots and lines at the top. the window tinter just tinted the main window. then added a strip of tint over the black dots and lines. you couldnt tell on the outside...

I guess its all dependent upon the skill level of the installer, because I have my back window completely tinted including the black dots and there are no bubbles what-so-ever, but if you are concerned over the look of it, you should do what was mentioned before, which is get a 3-4inch strip of black vinyl over that area and have the tint butt up with the vinyl....either way it looks great.!
