alright, a bit more update. the shop is going to give a last try for the color matching, if that doesn't go through, i think the best we can get would be doing all the pieces together and not using the jdm pieces. the shift **** is doable (the shop cliams), and they will need to take off the leather so they will put on new ones. this is one thing i am not sure about the result coz' so far i only focus on the center console.

for the wood steering wheel i assume it's the same idea, but the result i am not 100% yet. and of course the price for the shift **** and the wood steering wheel would be hefty compared to the door and center console coz' we talking about leather replacement too.

and here's the most important update. i need some help from some of you guys. i need to get some info (aside from my car) on people who owns car with interior color. i probably need one person from each interior color. so that means grey, black, and ivory. if you are interested in helping out, pm me and we can talk more more people would make things a lot easier and of course, there will be non-disclosure information involved

Was thinking...

If you are going to refinish existing parts, then it will also be possible to get blackwood on my friend's LS400?
Yes or no?

WOW... A LS400 with blackwood interior... That is

here is the door piece:

i was hoping to finish taking off the door panels and put on the pieces sooner so it's still day time, but it proves to be more work than i thought, specially when it's the first time

the full front pics (again sorry for the darkness)

impression:

the pieces are of course well fit, there is no reason for them not to. their quality is very nice like i said before. i examined them in more details again and their shininess is just the same as the old brown wood piece, if not more.

they look so much better than i expected on my ivory interior as you can see in the pics. initially i was afraid that the color won't match too well with teh leather, and the blackwood would be too sporty, but after i put them on, i asked my wife to take a look, and we both like them a lot. the blackwood actually keeps the classic look of the car, it's not like cf where it's really sporty (and kinda take away the luxury feel of the car).

my wife always HATE wood to death, so she really likes the new setup. now it's time to get the rest of the parts done

oh and btw, for those who said the door wood pieces are real wood, go hit your head on the wall! they are all plastic. the center console, the door pieces, they are all plastic!

oh and the difficulity of the diy is pretty easy, not too bad. you need some basic knowledge on how to take your car apart for sure, otherwise you are not going anywhere. it took me about 20 mins to figure out how to take off the first door panel, after that it took me about 10 mins to do the other one. the center console is stupidly easy, maybe 5 mins at most.
