EV ftw!!!
Just like Moooretorque, my expectations were much higher and futureristic. I so badly wanted the LF-S (slightly modified to make it a production vehicle) to be the new GS.
Looking at it now, I still prefer my 2nd gen GS. I won't be buying the 3rd gen GS anytime soon. My GS is currently stored for the winter and I intend to drive it for many, many more summers to come. When and if I buy a car in the future, it will be a real sports car - such as a Porsche 911 Turbo or something like that. My current GS will always be my family car. I will continue to mod it as long as I can breathe!!!!

After reading the post concerning the HP increase (not as if it matters) and the confirmed AWD (REALLY matters).. I am beginning to like the idea more.
Unfortunately, the looks are taking longer to grow on me. We will see what the future holds.

The tail end has to grow on me. Being a Maxima lover and not being overly excited about it's latest gen, I have the same sentiment for the GS since it looks a lot like the Maxima from behind. That being said:
The car does make several advances in safety features that are very useful. The design of the headlights I'm sure had to follow a certain patternd due to it's being upgraded to the LS's vertical and horizontal positioning capabilities. The knee airbag is nice. The electronic collision sensor is nice. Head air bags are nice. Safety canopy is nice. The adjustable suspension is really nice.
Lack of wood on the dash is not so nice. They could have finished it. The long slope on the rear window is gonna take some getting used to. The Maxima tail is gonna take some getting used to.
The real dissapointment is in the power dept. I can't believe Lexus kept the 300/325 combo. With BMW and MB putting out a ton more in comparable editions, how can Lexus afford to let them always have a trump card. Lexus could easily extract 50 HP out of the same exact engine with very minor mods. Heck, make a "special" edition with the 50Hp and charge more. Fine. But not having even a competitive muscle edition to compete is not very good. As a matter of fact, I know that if they really tried they could extract 100HP out of a stroked 4.3 motor and still make it an everyday car. MB and BMW did. Why can't Lexus?
