Default Difference between gs300 and gs400

I'm brand new to this board. I want to get a gs model, but I don't know what the difference between a 300 and 400 is. Now, I do know that the 300 is a v6 and the 400 is a v8, but are there any other differences?

Are their any certain years I need to avoid? Can you guys give me some help and advice to buying a used gs. Thanks

Hi and welcome. The only main difference is the I6 and V8 engines, and the 400 has the e-shift on the steering wheel . I would get a 1999 and up GS since 1998 is the first year the 2nd GEN gs came out and might have a couple of bugs. Go look on Autotrader.com. What is your budget? If you have a tight budget, you can get a 300 and pimp the HELL out of it . Go look in the gallery on here and you will see some of the nicest GS's ever created .

hey... another HT to CL convert.... Get the V8. I6 and V8 eats up almost the same amount of gas.

lol, i love ht, but cl is very nice as well. Right now I'm really just focused on just buying the car. FI and engine mod is not my main concern. I've checked autotrader for both the 300 and 400, and I could not fine anything less 28k for a 400 w/ lots of miles. So if the only real difference is just the i6 and v8, I'm gonna try to find a 300. If you guys can give me more info or advice that would be great and thanks for the help.

If you plan to keep the GS for a few years then test drive BOTH GS3 and GS4 to experience the difference. I found my 99 GS4 with navigation system with 26K miles last year on autotrader. I did travel out of state to purchase my GS4. There are GS4s with 30K miles and under $28K on autotrader but they are outside of CA.
