Doesn't change the fact that Doug is absolutely correct his response to your original post where you said "I do think that the toyota avalon is designed on the gs platform". They are two totally different platforms. The Avalon, Camry, RX300/330, ES300 (and a couple others) all share the same platform. It is a FWD v6 chassis.

Not as many people know that the GS300/GS400 and the IS300 share the same basic chassis as well - that's why the IS430 is do-able.

Your second point is more valid that the Avalon and GS have some similar design cues, overall size, etc is to be expected from two cars both designed and built by Toyota. That's one reason I liked my GS - the controls were very comfortable and easy to use having driven other Toyotas for 10 years. But just because my old Camry SE had the same windshield wiper control **** or the window switches are in the same place doesn't mean its the same platform.

Avalon Width - 71.1
GS Width-70.9

Avalon Length - 191.9
GS Length - 189.2

Avalon Height - 57.1
GS Height - 55.9

The 2nd Gen GS300 has a 2JZGE engine right? The exhaust contest video on lexusgonewild.com shows lxogoods car and it says 2jzge....

Dave, that is exactly the point I was trying to make! If platforms are shared, the switches, or the seat, or the radio face is NOT where it will be most evident!!!

Now THAT is something that I did not know, can you share any details (or send me somewhere that I can dig up more info)
