Default Poll to see interest in MB 01 CLK style mirror through Steve Ganz custom fabricator

How about fabricating some really good mirrors with the turn signal indicators built in like the 01 MB CLK mirrors, and NOT just some covers that go on the mirror like the Toms mirror covers?

I am sure a lot of members would jump on these. The unit could come without the actual mirror and motor to save on cost. So it would just be the external metal section with the turn signal built in.

Hey guys, chime in to show your support for this.

Hey Hameed, I am all for it. Just curious on how much these would cost. Back in 2001 an old user AltBrave did the MB conversion, and that was the first time I saw such a mod on a lex. If I recollect, it cost him around $700 for the parts/labor etc.. If we can lower the cost, to say about half of that, then it would be a great deal.

Yes I agree, if we could get it for about $300.00, it would be worth it.

Pic of the E-class side turn signal on a GS(altbrave). CLK looks much better but this is cool too.

I'd definitely be interested, but I do not think $300 is a reasonable guess at a price given that a DIY runs $600 - $700 (beautiful job 2001HiTechGs!). I think the final cost will be much more than that.

I just don't want Steve to go to the trouble of looking into getting these made with everyone's expectation falsely set at $300. Let's please be fair and leave it to Steve to figure out the asking cost before we second guess what is required.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it for $300, I just don't think its anywhere near realistic. If you want to do a DIY version, you have a good benchmark at $600/700. If you want to get a ready-made mirror that is bolt-on or paint-and-bolt-on, I suspect it's going to cost more.

Also - keeping the OEM self dimming feature is a requirement for me if someone were to make these...

very similar to my mod,but i have no one to complete it at the moment...it's been 3 years now!
do you think he can finish these up?....finally?

Driver side 90%completed!! prepped and almost ready for paint..
Driver side 90% completed!!

all materials...

these were actually merged w/ the mb's mirror because of the curve of the led's(i went this route because it was not a nice fit...) marine tex was used for this application, but a lot of work is involved... i had a guy at a bodyshop do this for me on his spare time, and this side took over 9 months to get it where it is in the pic. this was a very frustrating project because, i had to babysit this guy who did these and he had less and less time to work on these mirrors, so i got stuck with an incomplete project...to make matters worst, he no longer works at that bodyshop. i am a little skeptic about asking someone do a project that someone else started but, i'm left with no choice in the matter. judging by his pics he looks like he does good work. pm me with any info you might have concerning these......thanx!
