^ i love the black on black combo, but isn't it hot in the summer time?

Great question. Surprisingly, it's really not that bad. A previous car I had with a black leather interior was a '90 Nissan Maxima and I dreaded getting in that thing in the heat of summer with shorts on. That probably explains why the next 2 cars were a '95 Nissan Maxima and '00 Acura TL with tan leather interiors.

Back to the subject, the black leather Lexus is quite manageable to sit on the summer (it's maybe a notch hotter than a tan interior, not like 5 notches with the '90 Maxima)--it's probably due to the heat and UV absorbing glass that Lexus uses. Of course, I initially hesitated about the black interior for the "summer burn effect" on skin, but again it's not bad at all with the black Lexus interior and I have absolutely no regrets. One definite plus about having a black interior--it's much easier to keep looking clean (no dark marks can appear on the leather, as it's already dark!). However, the black exterior is another story on keeping clean. . .

Thanks alot guys. So as I am looking for a GS400/430... which years had the white/ black leahter? I assume all years silver come with the black or gray leather. Just want to know what years for the white in case I go that route. Thanks again.

Challenge anyone to find SBM (Spectra Blue Mica) on Black.. Took a 4 month order to get that combo and I hope my little bro is enjoying the fruits of my labour..

I think this was the first picture I took of the 2000 GS maybe 2 days after I took delivery in Nov. 99.. Then I found CL and my bank balance started to dwindle every week after that..

Things I have learned from CL is NEVER get GOLD plating again.. I look back and now I think its very tacky but I got it included for free with the deal..

I got the full wood kit included with the GS and it really brightened up the Black interior.. I was happy with that decision..

I've got silver on black and since I live in the tropics, I don't feel very hot at all in the car. It does get more claustrophobic than having a tan or grey interior though....

I know what you mean when you say "claustrophobic"--at least that's how I felt when I first got into the car. I was thinking, "It sure seems rather solemn in here". But I've grown to appreciate the dark interior over time. My sister's GS400 (white on tan) seems to have a much more "open" and "warm" feeling to the interior. Color will have a way of doing that to you. The black seems more like understated elegance, but nonetheless still classy.
