I was wondering how he got it to work. When you pull down the ashtray theres only like 1" to jam something in the side. The woodgrain trim is in the way. I was goona post it but I figured you had something up your sleeve for that.

GammaLex - you were right as to why the lighter wouldn't work in that location - not enough room between it and the side trim to plug anything in. Oh well, in the end it turned out not to matter, I took out the lighter altogether, and hard wired in my radar detector to the lighter power supply. I now plug my cell cord into the center console outlet, works great.

Anyway, an update... I just got a wood ashtray from kyle3481 (thanks Andrew!) and it was quite the trick, but I was able to replace JUST the front and surround on the old ashtray with the new wood pieces. If I couldn't have pulled this off I was in deep trouble because the SAFC-II cord went 'through' the ashtray mechanism and there was no easy way to get it out.

Anyway - here's the new ashtray in place (that's not a scratch on it, it's a reflection or dust or something). Excuse the dust - dang flash makes it look filthy even though I dusted it before taking the shot!

And here's the ashtray with the SAFC-II in it. Note the EDFC controller under the ignition too. I plan to clean up around the unit to hide the cord on the right side and hopefully center it more.

Smile safc

hey now that you have your safc all mounted have you hooked it up?

if not when are you planning to do that?

looking forward to seeing if you get any power boost out of it.

any updated feelings about how you are liking your coilovers? you must be getting a higher level of feel for them by now.

thanks

Yep, it's running - I had a local shop do it.

Dyno tuning is a bit tricky but it showed the car runs rich with my setup (K&N intake, L-Tuned exhaust) above 4000rpm so the shop dialed that out using the SAFC-II. It looked like we got about 14rwtq and a few HP by doing this, but from looking at the dyno charts it's a bit hard for me to tell.

Anyway, dunno if it's just because the ECU was reset or what, but the car definitely feels quicker, but that's odd because in 'normal driving' I don't actually go over 4000rpm that much.

Love 'em. And the EDFC setup really works. 12/12 definitely cushions the bumps and 5/7 or 0/0 definitely makes it firmer and the steering response quicker. So
